Farewell Romeo

My daughter's blog post:

I'd like to say thank you for all of the support and condolences that have been streaming in over the past 24 hours. Romeo, my beautiful baby boy, was tragically hit and killed by a car yesterday morning. He was on his usual walk with the family dogs and, inexplicably, bolted through a fence alongside the field. He ran out into the road.

Words cannot express the pain, confusion and extreme loss that I and my family are feeling. Tears have replaced laughter and the sadness is haunting. His time here with us was so short and yet he managed to have such a profound and loving impact on everyone, both those who met him and those who hadn't.

I will miss you forever, Mister Munchkin. Rest in peace, my gorgeous little puppy.

  7. So sad to learn that Romeo, so young, has travelled on;

    I know that you will miss him, every single day along your way;

    But the memories you hold in loving hearts ensure he's never fully gone;

    And I am sad that caring thoughts, are all I have to give for comfort on this day.

    With much warmth, Norm

  35. EVERYONE!

    Thank you sincerely for your kind thoughts, words and prayers in our grieving the loss of Romeo.

    I just did not have the heart to blog until late this afternoon. I have prepared a new post (a lot wordier than you are accustomed to from me, but I needed to try to make some sense of this tragedy and it helped to put it all down on 'paper'

    I plan to upload it a bit later this evening.

    You have all been absolutely amazing!
    Becoming a blogger has been one of the most rewarding things I've done. I have met all of you, which would never have happened without our respective blogs!

    With loving hugs to each and every one of you!

    Des xoxo

  37. So, so sorry! I've been busy and not up on my blogging and when I saw your comment I couldn't believe it. It seems so unfair how these things happen to such sweet little animals. So sorry about sweet little Romeo, I feel for you and your family.

  38. Desiree,
    I am a little behind and just read about Romeo. Words can not express the sorrow that I feel for you and your family. I know how it feels to lose a dog and it's such a shame when they are so young. My heart goes out to you all. I know how much you love the animals in your life.

    I am glad your daughter decided to bring Coco into your lives. Some people wait a long time after losing a dog but I think it's almost easier when you can start giving all that love to another animal as soon as possible to take the sting away just a bit. Though they all are irreplaceable having a set of paws clicking on the floor seems to make us feel a little less empty.

    Hugs,
    Annie

  40. I'm sorry for your daughter's loss of her sweet puppy, Romeo. It would be hard to lose a pet that way. When my husband's sister first got her driver's license, she backed up and hit their dog. That was very hard on her, naturally. We feel so responsible, but accidents like that happen so fast, we can't prevent them.

  41. I'm so sorry to hear of Romeo's passing. I hope you all think of his life with you as a gift. Heavens, I don't know how my husband would do without our Maggie. It was supposed to be 'my' dog, but he's completely taken her over, which is what dogs do. They steal your hearts, for as long as you have them. So sad... :-(
