If Romeo could have had a wish before his tragic death, we feel certain it would have been for other rescue puppies, dogs, cats and kittens to be given a fair chance of a happy life. While the shelters do a tremendous amount of good, their resources are pitifully constrained and both the animals and their carers have to contend with less than ideal facilities.
Linda has consequently taken her pain at losing her little Romeo and immediately set about doing something positive to make a difference.
First up, she has adopted Coco, a gorgeous rescue pup from the same shelter (The Bellville branch of The Animal Anti-Cruelty League) that rescued Romeo. Secondly, she has taken action to raise much needed funding for this shelter, in order to be able to assist with the upgrading of the facilities and provide much needed resources (towels, bedding, blankets, fly netting, a tumbledrier for the wet winter months and so forth).

I love this! I am a huge adopt a pet fan if you hadn't noticed I love animals. That story you read about my dog Drake actually happened because we lost a dog two days before that my husband had rescued years before. It was so heart rending!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful thing that Linda is doing and I hope the future with Coco is happy and bright just like you all deserve.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
My wife bought our Rocky from a lady that breeds the little (taco bell) dogs and paid a lot for him. I know from experience that the ones you get from the pound are mostly the lovingest dogs you could find. Coco is one lucky dog to have such a wonderful home to be loved by you and the family.
ReplyDeleteWarm, friendly thoughts coming to you from North Carolina

ReplyDeleteThank you all so very much for your support and encouraging words. You have no idea how much this means to us!
ReplyDeleteI shall read her post next to yours....i hope Coco brings lots of luck in her live...happy weekend......love love Ria....xxx...
ReplyDeleteAgain, the initiative is wonderful. You and your daughter are very caring people and I hope this fund will help those cats and dogs live a better life.
ReplyDeleteSince today has been dedicated to supporting animal causes, I also included Romeo's wish in my post at the pawprints blog. I hope more people can find out about this and help out.
A wonderful example of turning one's own pain into happiness for others!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful your daughter is to make something constructive out of her pain.
ReplyDeleteYou have an amazing daughter!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful that Linda has decided to give CoCo a loving home, and is also going to fund-raise for the Animal Shelter. A loving tribute to Romeo.
ReplyDeleteYep rescued dogs and cats and amazing and more people should get their pet this way instead of paying someone who only after money for a pet.
ReplyDeleteFirst off - that is an AWESOME shot of the flower. Stunning colors.
ReplyDeleteSecondly - I vollunteer at an animal shelter here. I have three dogs, and I've also had "that" dog - the one I bonded with on kind of a spiritual level. Mine was Maxx, and although he's been gone for 18 years, I still tear up when I think about him.
Thank you for the encouragement, but I can't really do much at the moment. Just trying to spread the word and feeding some of the stray dogs here.
ReplyDeleteI hope things will be better in time, for everyone.
Yesterday, I made a donation to our local shelter.
ReplyDeleteI am going to see if our local paper would run a story on Romeo's wish.......and maybe get some help for our local shelter (which is sorely ignored)......kt
Karen:
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking up the cause in your own area. This is precisely the way in which Linda is hoping Romeo's Wish will grow & spread! You are an angel!
Hugs from us both xoxo
You have done all you can to help your dog friends. I admire that greatly! We love our dog, Maggie, and just hope she has a long healthy happy life, like your dogs will have.
