Heathcliff Looking In On You All

Hi, all my blogging friends.  As you can see, I'm on the outside looking in...this has been the status quo for much of the time since the arrival of you know who and who...just on two weeks ago. I'm not so sure I can handle much more of this apparent 'favouritism'! They claim it's because I have a 'medical condition' and need to stay calm, but I think it's all a ruse...although I have had tests at the vet and there are some things to be concerned about. I feel fine, though!

Yes, those are the two imposters! Do NOT be fooled by their cute pose! They are quite a handful.
Bonny, Toby and I have to spend our time looking in more often than we like...not that Bonny and Toby are in the habit of spending time inside the house.  Being such large dogs, they have their own comfortable quarters for relaxing...that's Toby saying Hi to the new Lady of the House.

Just look at her...little Miss High and Mighty!

Our humans are besotted with these two and I guess I have to admit that are quite cute...when they're asleep! I have a devil of a job keeping them in check when they aren't and, when I get too eager, which happens fairly often, I then have to go outside...and look in!

When they aren't being walked in the garden, they spend much of the day in this room and just about everything has had to be taken out of reach as, believe me, these two are into everything!

Here I am trying on my cute face...in one of their beds.  Why they need TWO beds, is beyond me as they always sleep snuggled up in one!

This couch has been converted into their DAYBED...all the cushions had to be removed and this temporary cover tucked into the seat, so they don't get their puppy fluff all over it.

Thankfully, they aren't allowed on any of the other couches...that would be too much for me to put up with!

They each have plenty of chewy treats such as cow hooves and pig's ears...but they always want what the other one has!

Coco's teddy is tucked behind her, but she's eyeing Milo's teddy...

And, after some really wild chasing and hyperactive play, they drop, almost instantly...

The tiles are strewn with every towel and mat that over the years has been decommissioned for our use and purpose and that washing machine is churning away almost throughout the day.

Well, that's OVER & OUT from me.  I'm off to take a nap now while there's some peace and quiet!

  1. Oh Heathcliff, you are the cutest. I commend you for being such a good guy with those two newbies in your home. But your yoomens are wonderful and love you and Bonny and Toby just as much and much longer too. Purrs to make you feel better, from Ginger Hedges of Kenya.

  2. Take heart, Heathcliff - they'll grow out of the puppy stage soon enough. Then all will go back to equals - or close to it. As cute as the pups are, they don't hold a candle to your handsome and appealing face.

  3. Just you make sure you keep those two pups in their place Heathcliffe. They'll grow up much better behaved dogs following your example.

  7. Little Miss High & Mighty indeed! Poor you, Heathcliffe - but you have a lovely name! We all love you, and I think it is high time that you put your foot down and showed these usurpers just who is boss in that house!! Wonderful photos of you all. If I were there, I would give YOU lots of cuddles!

  11. I had to drag my husband in to look at the pictures. he stood over my shoulder as we scrolled through and we said "awww" in unison. Now I want a new pup. Four dogs in a garden- I think my husband would kill me.
P.S. Heathcliff is a great name!

  12. Heathcliff you are so good putting up with those 2 it is not always nice when there are newcomers in the home and I keep making typos and it is so annoying, yeah I know that has nothing to do with this post but thought I would throw that in there just because..............

I love all the photos posted here and you are so cute yourself.......

  13. Nice to hear from Heathcliff too. What is his health problem though? I hope it's not something bad.

Puppies are cute (and easy to carry around), but they grow up so fast, you wonder where the time has gone off to.

Thanks again for the ideas for my plant. I'll try them out and see how it works.

Thank you all for your very kind messages. It's so good to know you all see things from my perspective :)

Our old vet has not been giving us the best attention of late and so we have been to see a new one. The very first thing she noticed on me is that I have muscle loss on the top of my head. She checked me all over and then did X-Rays and some blood tests, because I have been a bit hoarse. The old vet had given me 2 lots of antibiotics for what he said was bronchitis. The new vet disagreed with his diagnosis. She found some fatty deposits on my lung tissue, which she said is similar to cholesterol. She also said my kidneys are not concentrating my urine and my abdomen is a bit distended, even though I am not overweight at all. They have ruled out Cushing's Disease, but I need more tests. My heart is strong and I feel fine, but my humans do worry so! I run about, go for my daily walk, eat my food and sleep well at bedtime.

For my humans' sake, I hope the vet can soon tell them what the problem is, so we can begin the correct treatment.

  15. Oh Heathcliff you are so tolerant of those two intruders but they are so cute aren't they.I hope you are not really sick and the new vet can fix what is wrong. We all love you to pieces.

  22. Lots of hugs and snuggles for Heathcliff. He is in my prayers.
The "babies" are adorable and your pictures are outstanding. Did you take these with your new camera?

  24. I love dogs, your puppies look very happy. At one time I had seven dogs, now only four and the oldest and biggest Rambo is reaching the end of life's road.

Glad to hear you're having rain in the Cape.

  25. How do these babies look so peaceful and happy all the time? Are you a dog whisperor? I tell you I could really use one now for our babie. The smallest noice and you would think she was going to have a heart attack! She really hates maching bands and that is a big proublem here in Norway this time of year.

  26. I am so in love. Yes, they can fool me anytime. Thanks for the cuteness gone wild.

  27. The "mystery diagnosis" has kept us on our toes before too. Aschiuta had a rash on her skin and we spent days at the vet trying to figure it out. It turned out to be just food allergy.

I hope it's as easily treatable for Heathcliff too. Good thing you have a more careful vet now.

  28. Heathcliff, it looks like you're being the perfect daddy to the two pups...you're all just far too gorgeous!!

  29. They are absolutely wonderful. I believe I could watch them sleep all day. Doesn't it give you a peaceful feeling?

I mentioned the idea of a puppy to my husband, last night... since the loss of our Jake. He thinks two dogs are enough. Go figure.

We may get a surprise, anyway. I can't help looking at all the pictures sent by the shelter, each week. :-)
